Flipboard (Blender setup)
A downloadable game
A configurable flipboard geometry nodes setup. Fancy demos aside what you get here is a spinning flipboard that cycles on a loop of N elements just continue upping the 'progress' slider and it will continue to flip. every time the part you see will be uv mapped to a different 1/8th slice (1/8th) of a texture of your choosing.
I have included a basic pixely one with this setup, you are welcome to use it! a shoutout is optional but appreciated mostly bc it will feel great - to me- to see it in the wild

Files
- flipboard.blend has just 1 board, you can duplicate it to make a bunch of letters and take it from there
- flipboard-demo.blend is the setup for the video. You can edit this instead if you want quick animations but good luck lol it's a mess

Adding/replacing chars
The board itself doesn't really care what any of the tiles has written on it. All it tracks is what index to show on the texture (Progress) and how many slots are (Total).
You can add new elements by drawing them on and cranking up the total. They should appear at the end! You can also use any size of texture, i made a small one because i just wanted to see this working.
If you wanna go over 64 chars...maybe don't but you could change the logic inside to break up the texture in 16 parts instead i guess? you may not wanna do that bc of
Animation
You animate 'Progress' from a starting point to an ending point and thats that. UNLESS

An actual flipboard works by flipping over every single card until it reaches the desired text. To recreate this effect there's two biggies you gotta keep in mind
- Digits only move one way (low to high on normal gravity). they can't go backwards. To animate them changing you need to do a lap around the full set of numbers (You can do this easily at the end by dragging everything on the dope sheet and moving them by whatever your total is)
- Digits move at different speeds (i think? feels right) like, going from A-B-C should be faster than going A-B-C-D-E-F-...-Z because its flipping through less characters. I managed this by just sorta aligning my lines on the dope sheet. It's not perfect but it's not like the real ones are either.
